Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) heaters are a subset of printed electronics - one of the fastest growing electronic segments in the world. These heaters have been used in multiple commercial segments such as automotive seating, floor/wall heating, medical, apparel, wind turbin blades and even airplane wings. CSi has progressed our PTC heaters to the point where they can meet multiple Warfighter personnel and equipment heating needs without stressing logistics or adding additional logistical burdens while meeting many SWaP-C objectives.

These heaters provide a long-lasting, lightweight, efficient, customizable, flexible and integration-capable format for

AFSOC has a strong interest in the heating technology due to its lightweight and flexible form factor that could easily be modified for multiple use cases.
— AFSOC End User Assessment

Our innovative heating solutions have been proven to extend mission duration by keeping electronics and warfighters warm. Our printed Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) electronic heaters are:

  • lightweight (~ 2 grams);

  • thin (0.012”)

  • Safe, self-Regulated,

  • provides targeted, rapid warmth for man-wearable and end-user devices (EUDs)

  • Man Wearables

    Exposure to Cold environments negatively impacts Warfighter performance – loss of dexterity; cognitive decline; increased work/rest cycles; and can have long-term health impacts. Lightweight, low power man-wearable PTC electronic heaters provide targeted spot-warming to core & extremities and will mitigate the effects of cold environments.

  • EUDs

    Extreme Cold weather can have a catastrophic effect on EUDs, including significantly diminished battery life, temporary usability issues, and lead to irreversible damage over time. In order to maintain an EUD's internal temperature to allow continual, uninterrupted operation, it needs a lightweight, small form factor, low power active heating source such as the CSi Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) electronic heater.
